Product Summary

A ball type lock is a device for raising and lowering boats between stretches of water of different levels on river and canal waterways. Locks are used to make a river more easily navigable, or to allow acanal to take a reasonably direct line across land that is not level. A lock is required when a stretch of river is made navigable by bypassing an obstruction such as a rapid, dam, or mill weir — because of the change in river level across the obstacle.

Characteristics of ball type lock are:1) unique self-locking mechanism allows easy and quick operation;2)high tensile strength ;3)non-flammable ;4)coated tie provides superior insulation and protection of cable, as well as safer operation ;5)uncoated tie for high temperature applications;6)stainless steel type:304,316 . A locking ball is radially displaceable in the aperture between an outer locking position projecting radially outward from the shaft and an inner position recessed in the shaft.

All locks are opened with a ball type key. The rotational angle of most of these locks is 90°. All locks come in metric sizes and are industrial quality. Good for many small cabinet applications, boxes, control boards, panels and various other small devices. A pound lock has a chamber (the pound) with gates at both ends that control the level of water in the pound. In contrast, an earlier design with a single gate was known as a flash lock.
