V-pulley is a kind of pulley, also called a sheave or a drum, is a mechanism composed of a wheel on an axle or shaft that may have a groove between two flanges around its circumference. A rope, cable, belt, or chain usually runs over the wheel and inside the groove, if present. Pulleys are used to change the direction of an applied force, transmit rotational motion, or realize a mechanical advantage in either a linear or rotational system of motion. It is one of the six simple machines. Two or more pulleys together are called a block and tackle. V-pulley is used in automotive applications to drive the accessories, such as a water pump, generator, alternator, power steering, and air-conditioner compressor. V-belt idler pulleys are provided with a series of radial reinforcing ribs to prevent deformation caused by the wedging action of the belt. The smooth and durable groove surface promotes perfect tracking and insures quiet, long-lived operation. Molded construction provides a bright, attractive appearance that speaks of the high quality of the final product. Versatile bore adapters can be factory-installed to facilitate mounting. V-pulley is a multi rib belt drive whose special construction allows it to be used with very small pulley diameters, reducing noise and vibrations. It solves many drive problems in a number of applications such as machines tools, wood working machines, and so on.
