Investment Casting

Investment casting, which also can be called as lost-wax casting, is one of the oldest known metal-forming techniques and has a long history of 5,000 years. The investment casting process is ideal for the production of high quality metal castings made from aluminum, steel and exotic alloys.

Investment casting is generally used for small castings, and the metal should often less than 500gm, although steel castings up to 300kg and aluminum castings of 30kg are can be produced. As compared to other kind of casting processes such as sand casting or die-casting, investment casting is a relatively more expensive process, but it has lower equipment costs and has versatility and precision unmatched by few other metal forming processes. It can produce complicated shapes that would be difficult or impossible with die casting, yet like that process, it requires little surface finishing and only minor machining.
