Extrusions

Extrusion is a kind of common process that used to create objects of a fixed cross-sectional profile. A material is pushed through a die of the desired cross-section, which can be produced vary from solid round, rectangular, to L shapes, T shapes tubes and many other different types. And extrusion is done by squeezing metal in a closed cavity through a tool, which is called as a die using either a mechanical or hydraulic press. The two main advantages of this process over other manufacturing processes are its ability to create very complex cross-sections and work materials that are brittle, because the material only encounters compressive and shear stresses. It also forms finished parts with an excellent surface finish.

In the process of extrusion, in order to theoretically produce indefinitely long material, it may be continuous. While semi-continuous is used to produce many pieces. According to the temperature of material in this process, extrusion process can be divided into hot extrusion and cold extrusion. And commonly extruded materials include metals, polymers, ceramics, concrete and foodstuffs.
