Wood finishing is the process of protecting the surface of a wooden material. And it includes process such as planing, sanding, filling, sealing, staining, priming and painting. The process starts with surface preparation, in the most time, this step is done by hand, which typically using a sanding block or power sander. Planning and sanding are the important processes used to make the wood surfaces flat and smooth. Imperfections or nail holes on the surface may be filled using wood putty or pores may be filled using wood filler. Filling requires a bonding agent to fill voids in the wood surface. Sealing and staining are treatments to the wood surface that are absorbed into the wood and become part of the substrate. Priming and painting are coatings applied to the wood's surface.
