Product Summary

A pop-up valve comprises an internally threaded screw nut, and positioned in a circumjacent manner around a cylindrical waste drain pipe. A complementary, externally threaded screw bolt, which is threadably engageable with the screw nut, and also circumjacent the cylindrical waste drain pipe. Typically, the structures making up prior art pop-up valves are placed upon or adjacent a cylindrical waste drain pipe. In one type of prior art pop-up valve, as may best be seen in FIG. 6, the cylindrical waste drain pipe is externally threaded. An internally threaded nut is rotatable secured to the external threads of the cylindrical waste drain pipe.

Features of Pop-up valve are:1)Reduces trip hazard posed by open drain;2)Pop-up top keeps rodents and debris out of system;3)Low-rise to avoid interfering with mowers ;4)Color can be matched to surrounding landscape.

Pop-up valves may leak from four points: 1) the metal flange atop the pop-up valve, which seats within the ceramic opening of the sink; 2) the pop-up drain locking nut; 3) the pop-up actuator collar nut; and, 4) the P-trap compression fitting. Many valves are controlled manually with a handle attached to the stem. If the handle is turned ninety degrees between operating positions, the valve is called a quarter-turn valve.
